Space Debris Causes Trouble on the Space Station

soyuz-tma2-iss-desk-12801Three members on the space station had to evacuate into an attached spacecraft last night. They were evacuated and had to take precautionary measures because of the probability of orbital debris impact.

The item was a weight tied to a cable weighing around 2 pounds traveling at 17,500 mph. The item passed by harmlessly and everything was okay.
